Blur the background for a soft portrait look

Apr 27, 2026 · 1 min read

Not every photo needs its background removed entirely. Sometimes the original setting adds atmosphere and you simply want it quieter. Blurring is the answer, and it takes two clicks.

Remove, then blur

Run the usual removal so Kavij knows where your subject ends and the background begins. Then choose Blur original background — the subject stays perfectly sharp while everything behind it softens.

Dial in the amount

The blur slider runs from a subtle haze to a deep, creamy blur. Lower values keep a sense of place; higher values isolate the subject almost like a studio portrait lens.

Because the effect uses your original photo, the colors and light behind your subject stay true — it simply melts into a gentle backdrop.
