The short version
- Images you upload are sent over an encrypted connection, processed in memory to remove the background, and returned to you.
- Your images are not saved to disk, not stored in any database, and not used to train models.
- Your images are never shared with or sent to any third-party service — the AI model runs on our own server.
- No accounts, no tracking cookies, no advertising, no watermarks.
The images you upload
When you remove a background, your image is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our server, where our own AI segmentation model processes it entirely in memory. The finished cutout is sent back to your browser.
We do not write your images to disk, add them to a database, keep them after your request finishes, or use them to train or improve any model. Once the background-removal request completes, the image is discarded from memory. We do not sell, rent, or share your images with anyone.
Editing happens in your browser
The touch-up tools — brushes, the pen and shape selections, background colors, gradients, blur, and downloading — all run locally in your browser. Only the AI background-removal step sends the image to our server.
Uploading by link
If you paste an image URL instead of a file, our server fetches that URL on your behalf so it can process the image. The URL you provide may appear in our standard server logs (described below). The fetched image itself is handled exactly like an uploaded one — processed in memory and not stored.
Technical logs
Like almost every website, our server keeps standard technical logs to operate the service securely and reliably. These may include your IP address, the date and time of a request, the page or endpoint requested, response status, and basic browser information.
These logs are used only for security, debugging, and keeping the service running. They do not contain the contents of your images. They are retained for a limited period and then rotated out.
Cookies and tracking
Kavij does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and includes no third-party analytics or ad networks. We don't build profiles of you or follow you across the web.
We do keep simple, first-party usage counts to understand how the site is doing — for example, how many pages were viewed and how many backgrounds were removed each day, and which sites link to us. These are aggregate totals only: no cookies, no IP addresses, no device identifiers, and nothing that identifies you personally.
Third-party resources
To render the page, your browser loads a web font and a small utility library from third-party content-delivery networks. When your browser requests these files, those providers may see your IP address as part of the normal web request. They do not receive your images or any information about what you edit.
Email updates
If an email sign-up form is offered, we would use an address you provide only to send occasional product updates, and never share it. As currently configured, the sign-up field does not transmit or store your email address; if that changes, this policy will be updated to describe it.
Children
Kavij is a general-purpose image tool and is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be made clear on the site.
